Instructions
GCP IaaS Details
Enter details of the desktop pool.
1. Region: Select the region from the dropdown where you want to set up your desktop pool
2. Desktop Configuration: Select the configuration of the desktop from the dropdown
3. Desktop OS: Select the operating system that you want to run on your desktop from the dropdown
4. SSD Type: Select the storage type that you want to attach to your desktop from the dropdown
5. License Type: Based on the use case, select the license type from the drop down (persistent or non-persistent)
6. VM Disk Size: Select the storage that you would want to attach to the VM
7. VM hrs/mo: Enter the expected number of hours per month for each VM in your pool (typical knowledge worker VMs run 160 hours per month)
8. Number of VMs: Enter the number of VMs expected to be in the desktop pool
Customer IaaS Discounts
Enter the discounts you might have received from your IaaS provider.
1. Compute PAYG: Enter the discounts that you get for PAYG (pay as you go) sole-tenant compute resources or on non sole-tenant compute (Linux VMs, windows server based VMs, etc.)
2. 1yr CUD: Enter the discounts that you get for 1yr CUD (committed use discount) on compute resources
3. 3yr CUD: Enter the discounts that you get for 3yr CUD (committed use discount) on compute resources
4. Sole-Tenant Premium Discount: Sole-tenant nodes can be overcommitted to increase user density and maximize TCO. To use overcommit feature, we need to pay 10% premium (on top of the base price of the node). Enter the discount that you get for sole tenanat premium on sole-tenant nodes
5. Sole-Tenant Overcommit Discount: Sole-tenant nodes can be overcommitted to increase user density and maximize TCO. Overcommitting a sole-tenant node comes with a 25% premium (on top of the base price of the node). Enter the discount that you get for overcommit premium on sole-tenant nodes
6. Storage SSD: Enter the discounts that you get for Storage SSDs (Balanced SSD / PD SSD)
7. Instance Memory and Device State: This type of storage is used for storing the RAM of the VM during hibernation. Enter the discounts that you get for instance memory and device state
Estimated Cost / Month
The estimated costs for running the desktop pool are summarized here.
1. Monthly $ estimate of the resources required to run the desktop pool based on a choice between PAYG, 1yr CUD and 3yr CUD. A recommendation for the cheapest option is given.
2. Summary provides a split of compute, storage and networking costs.
3. Overview of all the resources that would be required based on the desktop configuration you have selected along with their quantity, size, estimated $/Desktop/mo
